Thursday - For my last day of walking in Zermatt, I had decided to walk on the west side of the valley. This is my favourite side, mainly because there are no trains or cablecars, so there are also very few people.
The other noticeable feature of this side of the valley are the avalanche defenses that cover the high mountainside, some of which can be seen in the photo. I’d had to walk for about ninety minutes to get high enough to reach the first of them.
