We made it as far as Troyes by late afternoon and decided to stay there overnight in the funky Ibis Styles (really, look it up, “funky” is the most appropriate description for it).
We didn’t get that much opportunity to look around Troyes, but it looks to be quite a pleasant medium-sized town with plenty of shops, restaurants and things to look at. It’s certainly an improvement on my initial impression of the place, when I looked out of my hotel room window after checking in to see a teenage girl cycling down the street, pulling glass bottles out of her jacket and smashing them on the road. Nice.
