On the way back to the hotel, we detour to Riberio Frio, as our guidebook indicates that there are a couple of interesting levada walks there. But, to our shock and horror, it's actually raining when we get there and we've not brought any rain gear as we left the hotel (which is about 10 miles away) in the blazing sunshine. So we decide to call it a day and return to the hotel.
Later, back at the hotel and in the blazing sunshine again, we decide to chill out on the patio for the rest of the afternoon before going for our pre-dinner dip in the pool.
