Paul da Serra

On the way back to the hotel, we decide to drive across the Paul da Serra, which apparently means the High Moorland. The Paul da Serra is a large plateau that sits roughly in the middle of Madeira, its (relative) flatness in stark contrast to the entire rest of the island. Driving across it is rather similar to driving across a British moorland, albeit a) higher, b) hotter, and c) hillier. It's also a good place to go to get a good look at the top of clouds.

Note that Judith looks a bit blurry in this photo because I had to HDR it to get the very bright clouds to stand out against the relatively dark hills and she's apparently unable to stand absolutely, perfectly still for the duration of the three photos I took. It was still a pretty good effort though.
