There are a few marmots about and I manage to creep close enough to this one to get a reasonably good shot (certainly much better than any previous marmot-based photo I've managed).
The walk is otherwise uneventful and I meet Judith in the restaurant. My legs are still feeling pretty sore, but it's still only early afternoon and I don't feel like hanging up my boots for the day just yet. So I decide to do another "classic" walk along this side of the valley to the cablecar station at La Flegere, which is a gentle, net 100m (328 feet) descent.
