This is the state of the Icefields Parkway as we set out. Somewhere under all that snow is a road. The only thing to do is to drive up the sort of "middle", i.e. about half way between the trees. There are no towns on this road and only a couple of hotels (which are closed for the winter anyway), so once we've set out we don't have much option but to keep going.
