Lunch

As you can see, the Hutte was completely deserted (apart from the very nice people that work there and were fetching me my lunch). This was at least consistent with the trail here, which was also completely deserted (apart from the four mountain bikers I saw who shouldn’t have been on the hiking trail in the first place because they have their own dedicated trails!).

I hung around in the Hutte for about 45 minutes, hoping that the rain would ease up a bit, but it didn’t. So eventually I had to resign myself to a walk home in the pouring rain.

Shortly after setting off, I heard what I thought was thunder. For some reason, I turned to see where the sound had come from, just in time to see a huge lump of ice breaking off the glacier on the other side of the valley. Fortunately there were no glaciers on my side of the valley.
