If you see photos of the Matterhorn reflected in a lake on the internet or in holiday brochures (if such things still exist), it will almost certainly be the lake we’re now approaching - Riffelsee. Usually we don’t come down this way as it’s about the busiest place in the whole area. Japanese tourists in particular like to get the train to Rotenboden and then walk down to Riffelberg. But by this point it was fairly late in the afternoon and there were not too many people about.
