A while later and I've reached the point where the two trails down to Zermatt meet on the way up to Sunnegga. I didn't have any particular desire to go back to Sunnegga itself as it was very busy with skiers yesterday. So I turned hard-right and headed down the trail back to Zermatt.
Back in Zermatt (1,620m) I optimistically decided to try to walk up to Riffelalp (2,211m).
