Unfortunately the smooth seas don’t last long and by 10pm we’re at the mercy of storm force 10 winds. This picture is taken from our balcony, which is a long way above the sea and the waves still look big. Down on the lowest passenger deck with windows, which is around 20 feet above the (normal) waterline and the waves are level with the windows.

Apparently the Captain has considered heading towards the Irish Sea, or even further east back into the North Sea, but he thinks this will take us into the path of the storm. So he decides to head south-west, out into the Altantic, to try to get behind the storm.
