We decide to walk down from Saulire (2,700m - 8,860 feet) to the cablecar middle station at Pas du Lac (2,210m - 7,250 feet). The toughest bit of the walk down is the first couple of hundred meters from Saulire, which is down this impressively steep slope on what would be a black ski run in the winter. I'm not sure why they've got a road running up it as there must be few vehicles that could drive up such an incline.
