Wednesday - As I've had a couple of relatively easy walking days, I decide to try something a bit more strenuous today. I'm going to walk from our hotel, which is at 1,660m (5,450 feet) to the cablecar station at Saulire, which is at 2,700m (8,860 feet).
Initially the walk is through lovely flower covered meadows. However, before long I'm forced off my intended trail because it's completely blocked by large Caterpillar digger that appears to be constructing a new chairlift. So I have to head "off piste" for an hour, which takes me up some up some laughably steep slopes, before I find myself on another trail sign posted to Saulire.
