We reach a junction in the trail. One branch follows a trail fairly directly back to Meribel, another follows what is classed as a "difficult" trail further along the ridge. Judith decides to head back to Meribel, whilst I continue along the ridge.
The first half-mile of the trail is mental, with a very narrow path (only about a foot wide in places) to traverse over a a drop of a few dozen feet to a mountain road below. It would have been useful if my trail guide had mentioned that I could have just walked along the road for the first bit and avoided the mental bit of trail altogether. After that the path becomes much easier and I follow it for a couple of miles...
