Sunday - It's time to leave Geneva and head for the mountains. Meribel is around 100 miles away. The first 75 miles-or-so are covered quickly on the French motorways (with EUR15 in tolls to add to the EUR3 of petrol we’ve used - aren't you just looking forward to when the UK starts charging us to drive on our motorways?), but the last few miles are on winding mountain roads, so it's early afternoon by the time we arrive at the Hotel Yeti.
Today is the first day of Meribel's summer season, so the hotel has just opened after being closed since the winter season finished a few weeks ago, and it looks like we're the first guests to arrive. We're quickly and efficiently checked in and shown to our fabulous room, which you can see in the photo.
We're initially unable to buy a map of the local area due to the Tourist Information Office being closed for "lunch" from 12:30 to 15:30! So we have a bit of a walk around the centre of Meribel and a bite to eat whist we wait for it to re-open.
