Having deposited the car back at the hotel, we go for a walk and end up in the Hole In One again, which is as nice a way to round off the day/holiday as any.
Madeira has turned out to be both hillier and cheaper than we were expecting. The former has made for slightly more stressful driving than I would have liked, but the latter has allowed me to return home with a slightly fuller wallet than I was expecting. Overall though I'd say that we've had a pretty good time and wouldn't hesitate to recommend Madeira to others (so long as they weren't unduly keen on spending any time on a sandy beach).
I look forward to adding it to my list of places to return to.
