Friday - Our last full day on Madeira. I'd noticed in our guide book that there was a highly rated walk from Rabacal, on the plateau where we were on Monday. So we drove back up there to have a look. This is a photo of the road that runs across the plateau. It is the flattest and straightest road in all of Madeira by a significant margin.
Unfortunately we'd not allowed for the fact that Friday was also a Bank Holiday in Madeira. So when we got to Rabacal, the car park was completely rammed with around a hundred cars and a few coaches.
We went for some lunch at a nearby hotel to kill an hour and then went back to Rabacal to see if a few people had cleared off, but if anything there were more cars crammed in now than there were before. So we decide to give up on the walk and have a scenic drive back to Funchal.
