I finally got round to getting a t-mount for my DSLR camera so that I can attach it to my telescope. Unfortunately it’s been cloudy all weekend, so there’s been no opportunity to photograph anything in the sky. Consequently I’ve been trying to photograph stuff in the garden instead, which has proved to be challenging.
My telescope (a Meade LX10) has a 2,000mm focal length at f/10, which yields awesome magnification (often a bit too awesome for terrestrial purposes), but a fairly slow shutter speed and a depth of field of no more than 3-4 inches. To make things a bit more manageable, I’ve been using a 1.4x focal reducer. However, with the generally overcast conditions, I can still only manage a 1/250s shutter at ISO800.
Here’s a few of my better efforts so far.
