At about the point that we’d joined highway 40, there was a side road leading to a closed car park. We’d seen a few cars parked here earlier, although there were none by the time we turned up, so we stopped for a look.
There was a path leading up a gorge. We followed the path for about 20 minutes, but it just went on and on and there was no indication as to how far it might ultimately go (being Canada, probably for at least 20 or 30 miles). As it really was starting to get a bit dusky now, particularly down in the gorge, we decided it might be safest to return to the car.
