Brooklands Museum Mini Day As Judith has a Mini and we rather like the Brooklands Museum, we thought it might be a nice day out to visit the Brooklands Museum Mini Day.
Minis There were very, very many Minis there.

Bridge The view of Minis from the bridge over the old race track (where many of the cars were parked).
Bridge Looking in the other direction from the bridge.
SUV The original Mini SUV? A Mini body on the chassis of an old Suzuki 4x4 apparently, which is why they call it the Suzumini.
Wolseleys These are also Minis apparently. We even saw a few Mini Metros, which seemed to be pushing the bounds of plausibility a bit.
Wolseleys More Wolseleys, but in different colours.
A-Team A Mini converted into the rough approximation of the A-Team van.
Test Hill Everyone was invited to take their Mini up the Brooklands Test Hill, which is a lot steeper than it looks. The first third is 1:8, the middle third is 1:5 and the top third is 1:4. But I think the hardest bit of driving up it is probably that the "road" surface is really broken and uneven. The more powerful cars were bouncing all over and really scrambling for grip.My photo hasn't really captured the drama and speed. So maybe phone cameras do have some limitations after all.
Queue And boy oh boy did a lot of people want to take their Minis up the hill climb. This was the queue after they'd already been running for about twenty minutes. And this was just the morning session.
Balcony View This was the view from the Clubhouse Balcony. You can just see the Hillclimb in the distance, at the top of the picture.
Concorde There were so many Minis there that they'd filled every available space.
Plane All of the usual Brooklands stuff was also open, including the planes, so there was loads and loads to see.
(Not so) Mini Judith's "Mini" parked next to an actual Mini. I got the impression that a lot of the proper Mini owners didn't think that the new-style Minis should have been allowed in. And they've probably got a point. When you see them parked side by side, the new ones are anything but "Mini".Still, we had a lovely day out and the weather was pretty nice too (for mid-March).
