Alicante As it’s been months since we’ve felt the warmth of the sun on our faces, we thought a long weekend somewhere sunny might be nice. So we went to Alicante.
Explanada The Paseo de la Explanada de Espana, to give it it’s full name. It’s the pedestrianized bit that runs along the sea front and is quite pretty. It’s a shame about the four lane highway that separates it from the harbour.
Castillo de Santa Barabara A view of the castle from the harbour.
Castillo Garden Judith and some flowers in the grounds of the Castillo de Santa Barbara.
Harbour The view of the harbour and town from the Castillo.
Alicante The view looking west across Alicante from the Castillo.
Castillo A miscellaneous view in the grounds of the Castillo.
Sea View Judith looking out to sea from the Castillo.
Boat A nice boat in the harbour. You can get one of those for about £350,000 apparently.
Benidorm The beach at the west end of Benidorm, which is about 30 miles north of Alicante. Much nicer than we were expecting. Well this bit was anyway.
Picanto Our awesome Kia Picanto, with a miscellaneous castle thing in the background. Possibly the smallest and least powerful car I’ve ever driven, but perfect for driving about in town and on the narrow roads in the hills. Nice colour too. This would have been somewhere around Alcoy, about 40 miles north of Alicante.
Night A view of the Castille de Santa Barbara at night.
Boat That boat again. But at night.
Alicante Panorama A panoramic view of Alicante from the Castillo de Santa Barbara.
(Another) Alicante Panorama This time looking in the other direction.
Me Me at the Castillo.
Harbour A view across the harbour from the Panoramica shopping centre.
Best Boat If you had the pick of the boats in the harbour, this is the one I think most people would have picked. It’s difficult to gauge the scale of it until you see the Mercedes 4x4 parked behind it.
