From Mannlichen, looking into the next valley, we can see the towns of Wengen and Lauterbrunnen. At a glance they look like one town, but Wengen is perched on a ledge on the side of the valley around 3,200 feet below us, whilst Lauterbrunnen is a further 1,500 feet below, on the valley floor.
