Brooklands Museum A sunny day out at the Brooklands Museum with Judith’s dad.
Garage There is tonnes of interesting stuff to see at Brooklands. This is one of the exhibits and not someone’s garage in need of a tidy.
The Jackson Shed The Jackson Shed is the home of the F1 exhibition, where there is a F1 simulator based on a real Mclaren F1 car - one of Lewis Hamilton’s judging by the name on the side. I didn’t take a photo of it.
Wellington Hangar
Vickers Wellington This Vickers Wellington bomber is one of the major exhibits in the Wellington Hangar. It was built at Brooklands during World War II and crashed into Loch Ness during a training flight in 1940. It was located in 1976 by a team of Americans searching for the Loch Ness monster and finally raised in 1985.
Vickers Wellington The superstructure is in remarkable condition considering it spent 45 years in Loch Ness.
Vickers Wellington
Busses In the new(ish) London Bus Museum. It was hot outside, but it was hotter in here.
Vickers Merchantman One of the planes in the Vickers Aircraft Park. This one used to carry passengers but has been converted for cargo.
Vickers VC10
Vickers VC10 The tail fin of the Vickers VC10.
Vickers VC10 The engines and tail fin of the Vickers VC10.
Vickers VC10 This would have made rather spacious luxury transport for the Sultan of Oman. It could really do with a wash though.
Vickers VC10 This is presumably where the Sultan’s aids sat. It still looks pretty comfortable.
Cockpit The cockpit of the BAC 1-11 (I think). Complicated.
Eurofighter On the way home we drove past Farnborough, where the airshow was just coming to a close with the Eurofighter. So we pulled over in a car park near the airfield and sat back to watch what was left of the show.
Upside Down There was quite a lot of this sort of thing.
Eurofighter There’s a good view of the pilot in this photo.
Eurofighter I think this was the best photo I got.
Eurofighter Although this one isn’t bad either.
Eurofighter Last one. After five minutes of this blasting back and forth overhead, our ears were well and truly buzzing. It was very, very loud. And so ended a jolly nice day out (although it was a bit hot).
